March 26, 2024
A Reminder of our upcoming Mobile Inspection Application Webinar (register here) before we get right to todays topic – the significance of maintenance management software (CMMS) in an injury-free workplace.

According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) these are the top 10 workplace injuries in order of severity from fatal to minor…

1)    Fatalities: Accidents such as falls from heights, being struck by objects, caught in or between machinery, or exposure to hazardous substances.

2)    Amputations: Loss of limbs or body parts due to machinery accidents, crushing injuries, etc.

3)    Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBIs): Including concussions and skull fractures, typically due to falls, being struck by objects, vehicle accidents, or other high-impact incidents.

4)    Spinal Cord Injuries: Resulting in partial or complete paralysis, affecting mobility, sensation, and bodily functions. Falls, vehicle collisions, and heavy machinery are the most common causes.

5)    Severe Burns: Fires, explosions, chemical exposure, or contact with hot surfaces often result in extensive tissue damage, scarring, and long-term disabilities.

6)    Orthopedic Injuries: Broken bones, fractures, and musculoskeletal injuries occur in workplaces with physical labor, heavy machinery, or hazardous environments.

8)    Severe Lacerations: Deep cuts, and puncture wounds from sharp tools, machinery, or equipment, can result in significant bleeding, tissue damage, and potential infection.

9)    Eye Injuries: From chemical exposure, flying debris, or other hazardous materials can anything from minor irritations to severe damage, including vision loss or blindness.

10)   Sprains, Strains, and Minor Traumas: From repetitive tasks, manual labor, or physical exertion.

For many companies staff are like family. Most people spend more waking hours of every work week with their co-workers than they do with their actual relatives. Everyone wants their work family to go home safe and intact to their real family.

Employers should prioritize prevention strategies to minimize the risk of workplace injuries and ensure the safety and well-being of their employees. This includes the effectiveness of safety protocols, training, equipment maintenance, and emergency response procedures.

Tero Consulting provides an essential tool used to ensure that maintenance is performed correctly and on time – Azzier CMMS.

·     Preventative Maintenance and Work Orders: Ensures that equipment and machinery are regularly inspected and maintained according to predefined schedules. This reduces the likelihood of unexpected breakdowns or malfunctions that could pose safety risks.

·     Procedures: Clear, repeatable instructions for Lock Out Tag Out and all remedial steps for maintenance on all your assets.

·     Predictive Maintenance: Triggers are used to alert managers via email and auto generate Work Orders when threshold conditions are detected.

·     Power Bi Connector: Azzier can track the history of equipment maintenance and repairs. Managers can identify patterns of failure or deterioration that could compromise safety. By monitoring the condition of assets, preventive measures can be taken to avoid accidents. Azzier Power Bi Connector can facilitate risk assessments by providing data on equipment performance, maintenance history, and safety incidents. This enables organizations to identify potential safety hazards and implement measures to mitigate risks proactively.

·     Labor Management: Azzier provides a means to track employee training and certification requirements related to safety procedures and equipment operation. This ensures that employees are adequately trained to perform their tasks safely and effectively. Employees cannot be assigned to work that they are not certified or trained for.

·     Emergency Preparedness: By maintaining accurate records of equipment maintenance and safety procedures, the software helps organizations prepare for emergencies. Quick access to information about equipment status and safety protocols can facilitate a swift and effective response in case of accidents or incidents.

·     Integration with Health and Safety software: By creating a two-way exchange of data and building cross functional workflows, organizations can ensure these systems are talking to one another. This ensures that when your employees are on the job they are rested, and risk of injury is minimized.

Creating a culture of safety in the workplace requires a multifaceted approach that addresses various aspects of occupational health and well-being. In addition to Azzier Maintenance Management Software, companies can increase workplace safety by providing training for all employees, including proper use of equipment, handling of hazardous materials, emergency procedures, and best practices for preventing common workplace injuries.
