Our Company
Our Story: Pioneers in CMMS… and Still Setting the Bar
By Mark Sherling, President
I’ll never forget the day we pitched Azzier to one of the world’s largest aerospace firms. We were a finalist for a contract with them, but this was a Fortune 500 company, after all. We weren’t sure we could close the sale, but we had absolute faith in our product. I told them, “We are going to entertain you, at least. What are the chances we can have your business?” (Turns out the chances were 100%… after demoing the product we landed that contract like an experienced pilot lands a jet.)
We have always run the company that way, with grit, dedication, profound customer relationships and a truly useful product.
We Can Do This… Better
Before we started the firm, I and some of my family members had run a maintenance management consulting firm, selling other company’s solutions. We worked with these huge software companies, so we had personally experienced the pain and hassles of dealing with big, faceless organizations.
After a few years, the team and I said to ourselves, “We can do this better, and we can provide a heck of a lot better customer service than we are getting here.” And so we did.
We chose our company name, Tero, to reflect that customer dedication. It’s a Greek word that means “to care for,” and that’s at the core of what we do. We founded our company with the mission of taking care of our customers by developing solutions that help them more easily maintain, track and manage their assets.
Launching a Premier, One-Stop CMMS System
My teammates and I then rolled up our sleeves and embarked on our journey to build Azzier. We wanted every bit of it to be developed in-house, by our people, supported by our field personnel, so we would know it had the quality our customers deserved. Still today, this is what sets us apart.
We constantly welcomed suggestions from customers, considering all their ideas for use in each release. After much hard work and testing, we were confident Azzier was ready for prime time. Since that time, we have continued to expand and nurture Azzier, always adhering to best practices.
As a company, we have now been maintaining the future for more than 40 years. We are so proud of what we have accomplished, and the work we have done for our many long-term clients, that we’ve made it our company mantra.
Unrivaled Customer Longevity
That’s why, when someone asks me, “What aspect of the business are you most proud of?” I tell them, “Customer retention, without a doubt.” No other CMMS developer has the customer longevity we enjoy. Several of Tero’s customers have been with us for more than 20 years. Why? Azzier simply works, every time, running on any W3C compliant browser and any device.
One of our clients, Gord Palmer, Products Maintenance Manager for Canoe Forest Products says it best. “Azzier probably saves my supervisors eight hours a week from where we were. With this system, we can make changes in 15 minutes.”
Still Raising the Bar
I like to tell our customers that we are grounded in tradition but constantly moving forward, as we are with our recently launched mobile app, which makes our CMMS software more convenient than ever. We don’t know yet where the next 40 years will take us, but we do know one thing. Tero’s dedication to customer care, and our determination to offer nothing less than the best platform we can, on time, on budget, and on the mark, will never diminish.
